Protecting your personal privacy is important to the CaymanIslands Department of Tourism (“we”, “our”, “us”, or “CIDOT”).  The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to helpyou understand how CIDOT collects, uses, and safeguards the information youprovide to us.  This Privacy Policy issolely applicable for the website located at www.caymanislands.ky (the “Website”)and its associated services.

By using or accessing the Website, you signify your agreementto be bound by this Privacy Policy.  IFYOU DO NOT AGREE TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY YOU MAY NOT ACCESS OR OTHERWISE USE THEWEBSITE.

Personally Identifiable Information That We Collect

CIDOT will not collect personally identifiable informationfrom you unless you voluntarily provide it to us.  The personally identifiable information whichyou may provide to us could include your complete name, e-mail address, phonenumber and postal address for purposes such as corresponding with us, processingbrochure requests, signing up for our newsletter, posting a blog or forumcomment, entering a sweepstakes, or participating in an online survey.

Non-Personal or Aggregate Information That We Collect

When you access the Website, we may automatically collectaggregate or anonymous information about user contact with and use of theWebsite, such signing as the type of computer and operating system, web pagesviewed, browser type, referring service, usage and browsing habits on theWebsite and similar data.  We may aggregatedemographic information collected from our users (such as the number of usersin a particular state) in a manner which does not identify any one individual.  We may also collect certain informationpassively.  Through technologies likecookies, web beacons and tags, we may collect information about how you use theWebsite.  Please see the section below oncookies for more information.

We may receive information from third parties.  For example, we may receive information aboutyou from social networking websites, subject to their representation that theyhave a legal right to share such information with us.  CIDOT utilizes Google Analytics featuresbased on Display Advertising (e.g., Remarketing, Google Display NetworkImpression Reporting, the DoubleClick Campaign Manager integration, or GoogleAnalytics Demographics and Interest Reporting. Visitors can opt-out of Google Analytics for Display Advertising andcustomize Google Display Network ads using the Ads Settings.

CIDOT will not facilitate the merging ofpersonally-identifiable information with non-personally identifiableinformation, such as age, gender, or interests, previously collected fromDisplay Advertising features that is based on the DoubleClick cookie unless youhave robust notice of, and the user’s prior affirmative (i.e., opt-in) consentto, that merger.

Information Use

We will only use your personally identifiable informationas described below, unless you have specifically consented to another type ofuse, either at the time the personally identifiable information is collectedfrom you or through some other form of consent from you or notification to you:

§  Wemay use your personally identifiable information to respond to your inquires orrequests.

§  Wemay use your personally identifiable information to send you brochures,newsletters and emails from time to time, but we will not provide yourpersonally identifiable information to third parties for them to contact youdirectly unless otherwise permitted by this Privacy Policy or unless youprovide your consent.

§  Wemay permit our vendors and subcontractors to access your personallyidentifiable information, but they are only permitted to do so in connectionwith performing services for us.  Theyare not authorized by us to use the information for their own benefit.

Non-personally identifiable or aggregate information may beshared with any number of parties, provided that such information shall notspecifically identify you.

Information may be transmitted to and stored in the UnitedStates, England, France, Germany, China, Japan, Singapore, Australia, Canada,the Cayman Islands and/or India and, by using the Website, you consent toinformation being transmitted to and form and stored in such locations.

“Cookies” are pieces of information that may be placed onyour computer by a service for the purpose of facilitating and enhancing yourcommunication and interaction with that service.  Many services use cookies for these purposes.  We may use cookies (and similar items such asclear gifs, web beacons, tags, etc.) on the Website to customize your visit andfor other purposes to make your visit more convenient or to enable us toenhance our service.  For example, we mayuse cookies to allow easier access to your specific country of origin on theglobal landing page of the Website.  Youmay stop or restrict the placement of cookies on your computer or flush themfrom your browser by adjusting your web browser preferences, in which case youmay still use the Website, but it may interfere with some of its functionality.  Cookies and similar items are not used by usto automatically retrieve personally identifiable information from yourcomputer without your knowledge.

Your Disclosures in Blogs and Other Social Media

You should be aware that personally identifiableinformation which you voluntarily include and transmit online in a publiclyaccessible blog, social media platform or otherwise may be viewed and used byothers without any restrictions.  We areunable to control such uses of your personally identifiable information, and byusing such services you assume the risk that the personally identifiableinformation provided by you may be viewed and used by third parties for anynumber of purposes.

Children

We do not intentionally collect or solicit personallyidentifiable information from children under the age of 13.  When we become aware that personallyidentifiable information from a child under 13 has been collected without suchchild’s parent or guardian’s consent, we will use all reasonable efforts todelete such information from our database.

Discontinue Receiving Communications

Unsubscribe or opt-out requests may be sent to us at contact_us@caymanislands.kyand we will process your request within a reasonable time after receipt.  In addition, you may request to discontinuereceiving communications from us by clicking on the “remove me from this list”link at the bottom of our emails.  Tomake this request, look for the language: “To unsubscribe from this e-mail,click here”.  However, we are notresponsible for removing your personally identifiable information from thelists of any third party who has previously been provided your information inaccordance with this Privacy Policy or with your consent.  You should contact such third partiesdirectly.
